Save on your centerpieces

Would you use a goldfish as a centerpiece? That’s today’s question. In my opinion it's a neat concept, however not for a centerpiece. I'm a huge animal lover but I’m not a vegetarian, I think I would have a hard time eating while those little eyes were staring at me.

I love the concept of underwater centerpieces. They look larger than you think and budget friendly. You can group small centerpieces together (like above picture) keep it simple though, you don't want to make it look to busy. When meeting with your florist go in with a budget in mind. Collect lots of pictures of what you like the look of, think about the mood that you want to create and your theme - colour or place.Think about the size and the season of the flowers.  Ask about rental vases or if you can bring in your own, this way you can control exactly what you want to spend. If they know what your budget is they will be able to recommend the best ideas. Plus they have the skills to create stunning displays.

Below are a few of my favourite centerpieces:

Ottawa Weddings

One thing that I have learned over the past years is that Ottawa is really a small community in the heart of a large city. As an internationally certified Wedding/Event planner I meet different couples weekly about their wishes for their special day. Every couple is different. Every wish is different. Every love story is different. That is why every event and wedding that I plan is different. My motto has always been to think outside the box! When your guests walk into your ceremony and reception they will know that this is "your wedding" and not someone else’s. Every budget is different, not every couple can afford to plan a wedding with a six figure budget. We have worked with budgets from $6000 to $200000 and I can honestly say that the $6000 had all the elements of a lavish affair. Keeping my business small has always been my dream. I never book more than one wedding a weekend because I believe that this is "your" wedding weekend and you deserve all of my attention. "Quality" and not "Quantity" is why Top Marx has been in business for so long, a lot of my business is referrals from past couples or just word of mouth. I offer complimentary consultations with no obligation to book! I can't wait to hear the next love story.

Engagement ring trends for 2011

In 2011, we’ll see engagement rings with a variety of floral motifs inspired by the 70’s. Whether this design surrounds the center diamond, or it’s part of the band, much of this intricate detailing can only be accomplished in platinum. This style is ideal for the romantic bride.

Remember the timelessness of celebrities like Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor. Think the sophisticated elegance of a polished platinum setting with a solitaire diamond, or a vintage-inspired style with filigree. Investing in classic styles is not only a wise choice from a wear-ability standpoint, since they will never go out of fashion, but the investment in a platinum engagement ring means that the ring you purchase today will last for a lifetime and ready to hand down to future generations.

Winter Wonderland

For the past year i had the honour of planning Kel and Marty's Christmas wedding. Everything was planned to the last detail including a hot chocolate station with candy canes and whipped cream. It was a beautiful day with the ceremony and reception held at Strathmere in North Gower, Ontario. Thank you to the wonderful Barb Cameron from http://www.cameronphotos.ca/ for the amazing photos!
